Brand Tackles Dad’s Dilemma – How to Eat Right and Get More Active at Home

CAMDEN, N.J., Sep 20, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Campbell Soup Company’s (NYSE:CPB)Campbell’s(R)Chunky (TM) soup is enlisting the power of NFL pros to create a game-winning strategy for dads who struggle with eating right and being active.

To address this challenge, Super Bowl winners Tony Dungy and Jerome Bettis are teaming up to launch the Campbell’sChunky soup All Pro Dad pledge, which encourages dads to make small changes that can make a big difference at home. Dads that take the Pledge will also have a chance to enter to become one of five Chunky All Pro Dads that will attend the 2011 Pro Bowl, to be held in Hawaii on January 30.

“We know dads want to live a balanced life, but when time is short they often end up eating greasy, fatty foods that can leave them feeling full of regret,” said Campbell’s Vice President of Ready-to-Serve soups Michael Barkley. “So Chunky soup is tackling this dilemma head on by partnering with two famous ‘NFL dads’ that our consumers know and respect. They will talk about making better choices, which include choosing delicious, hearty and wholesome Chunky soup, a quick and easy meal time choice that won’t weigh them down.”

The pledge asks dads to do just two simple things each week that can make a big difference:

1) Eat a wholesome dinner with their family

2) Do something active with their kids

“As a dad and a former professional athlete I know how challenging it can be to take care of yourself and your family,” said Bettis. “That’s why I’m proud to be working with Chunky soup to let dads know that something as simple as sitting down together for a family meal and going outside to toss a football with your kids are two easy ways they can lead more active lives with their family.”

In addition to being one of the NFL’s most successful coaches, Tony Dungy founded the All Pro Dad(R) organization to provide men with the resources and encouragement they need to be better fathers. Built on a football theme, All Pro Dad features more than 50 NFL players, coaches and alumni who speak on the importance of being a good father.

“I hear from men across the country every day telling me that they want to be more involved in their childrens’ lives than ever,” said Dungy. “Together with Campbell’s Chunky soup, we’re hoping to empower everyday fathers to be the ‘All Pros’ they want to be both on and off the field.”

To take the Chunky soup All Pro Dad Pledge, dads can log on to www.Facebook.com/ChunkySoup. There, fathers can share their own personal tips on how to be a Chunky All Pro Dad and see what other dads do to stay in the game. Visitors can also enter for a chance to win a family trip to the NFL Pro Bowl. Five winners will score a family trip to the 2011 NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii on January 30, 2011.
